What is Physical Health?
Physical health is an essential part of overall health of an person. It’s about you working with your body both with regard to exercising and healthy eating.
The effects of inactivity are frightening and sadly, a very real and scary reality for young people in Ireland. There is no doubt that regular physical activity has huge physical and mental benefits for our younger generation.
The benefits of being active for physical and mental health are huge. Being active helps release chemicals called endorphins in your brain, which have a positive effect on your mood (i.e. they are kind of like your body’s natural happy drug!) not to mention the benefits to your heart, lungs, muscles and bones. Getting out and being active is also a great way to manage stress.

Stay Safe First! Exercise and physical activity are a great way to feel better, gain health benefits and have fun. As a general goal, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. However, don’t push your body too far otherwise you may hurt yourself. If you haven’t exercised in a while, talk to your doctor to find out how much exercise you should be doing.
